Service Team Information

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16, NIV

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16, NIV

At HNH, we strive not only to serve the poor, but also to be a light for them, pointing back to our heavenly Father. And joining a Service Team is a great way to do both!

While in Honduras, Service Teams help in our Village Medical/Dental/Construction Brigades, play with the children, and partake in an eye-opening experience in a developing country.

In Honduras, Service Teams take part in medical, dental, and construction brigades. They help distribute deworming medicine, vitamins, eyeglasses, toys, school supplies, and water filters; pour concrete floors; and connect with the children and families in every community they visit.

Trip Preparation Check List

Have Some Questions?

  • The trip costs $1,525 per person.

    • Registration: $200

    • Remaining Costs: $1,325 (Due 1-2 Months Before Trip)

You are responsible for airfare costs which will be $600-$1,000 depending on the season.

  • The $1,525 trip expense will be used to cover food, lodging, transportation, supplies, and Honduran Office costs (translators, doctors, dentists, helpers, etc.)

Local Recreation to the waterfall (entrance fee only) is also included in your team expenses.

    Other Possible Costs:

    • Your team will need to provide transportation to and from the airport in the United States.

    • Having a bit of spare cash on hand for souvenirs or the zipline at the waterfall is also a good idea. US dollars are accepted at the souvenir shops but bring new, crisp dollars.

    • A team’s expenses cover 8 concrete floors in total (2 each day). If a group would like to concrete additional floors, the cost is $250/floor, and the team leader must discuss this with Herman at least 4 months prior to travel.

Some teams find that purchasing school supplies and Spanish Bibles in Honduras not only helps the economy in Honduras, but also gives them more suitcase space to carry other supplies that are more easily purchased in the USA. Contact us at office@healthyninos.org to find out current prices and availability for these items.

If you are interested in shipping donations prior to your trip contact Dr. Herman.

  • Not at all! There are a variety of areas you can volunteer in at each community. You will also be working alongside our staff in Honduras.

  • Yes, if your child/dependent (minor) will be going to Honduras without a parent or guardian, please have them carry a copy of the permission form with them. You can send a copy to the HNH Office or give it to the team leader.

If you have any other questions, ask us!

Pictures and Testimonies from

Previous Service Teams in Honduras

  • "Amazing experience; great staff and a beautiful work. Healthy Niños is changing lives in Honduras. I'm so glad that I was able to volunteer my time with this great organization."

    - Doug

  • "The HNH staff in both the US & Honduras make organizing and participating in a mission trip very easy. It is truly a blessing to participate in the brigades & community work."

    - Joanne

  • "I always feel a bit of anxiety about a week before my trip to Honduras, especially given the unsettling political situations everywhere. But when I step out of the luggage area and see [the HNH staff], all anxiety is gone. The team in Honduras, including staff at the house & those who go to the villages, is so attentive to our needs and safety. The drive to the villages, while over steep and rugged terrain, is beautiful and breathtaking. But the best part is seeing and interacting with the people in the villages. The services seem so small in light of the greatness of the need, yet this little bit can make a huge difference."

    - Carol

  • "Our experience with Healthy Niños exceeded our expectations. From start to finish the staff supported us. Our team created lasting relationships and memories which will transform their lives. Perhaps the most telling comment was from our student who asked, 'Can we do this again next year?”

    - Keith

  • "This was an impactful experience for me. I deeply appreciated the leadership from HNH, the joyful spirit of the staff in Honduras and the blessing of being able to serve the courageous and amazing people of Honduras."

    - Jeff

  • "I have participated in several short term service trips and this one is great! It was well organized, excellent lodging and travel conditions. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable."

    - Anonymous

  • "Everyone should experience a short term mission trip to experience poverty first hand. I plan to take all of my grandchildren when they turn 12/13 to help them develop compassion for those who are suffering in the world. The team is excellent and very organized and do a good job."
